All that’s golden certainly glitters
The film awards season kicked off with a bang as stars stepped up their fashion game at The 81st Golden Globe Awards. This year’s event marked plenty of historical moments, with Lily Gladstone becoming the first indigenous person to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress, while Steven Yuen and Ali Wong became the first actors of Asian descent to win in their categories for their roles in Beef.
Actresses in Schiaparelli brought the drama: Maestro’s Carrey Mulligan delighted in a figure-hugging Schiaparelli 1949 number, Natasha Lyonne’s Spring 2023 Haute Couture look turned heads with its sculptural neckline, and Dua Lipa bared gilded bones in the house’s signature Skeleton dress reimagined by Daniel Roseberry.
Without fail, Barbie producer and actress Margot Robbie dazzled as real-life Barbie by partnering with Armani Prive to recreate Superstar Barbie, 1977. Just asBarbie inspired many to dress pink last year, Succession fuelled the quiet luxury trend and swept multiple awards at the show including Best Television Series, Drama. Succession’s J. Smith-Cameron showed us who’s boss in custom Christian Siriano and sported a yellow ribbon as a symbol of support for the 130 hostages still held in captivity by the Hamas since October 7, 2023.
As for the Saltburn actress Rosamund Pike, she delivered a lesson on how to make a fashion statement out of a mishap. After an unfortunate skiing accident in December that left her face “entirely smashed up”, Pike donned the red carpet in a veiled headpiece by Phillip Traecy and Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2019 Couture black lace dress. You know what they say, the show must go on.
